Wood completes Burnley switch

Burnley have completed the signing of Chris Wood from Leeds United, according to the Express.

The Lancashire outfit have laid out a club record fee of £15m to secure the New Zealand international’s services, and could now make his debut in Tuesday evening’s EFL Cup second round tie against rivals Blackburn Rovers.

Wood ruled himself out of Leeds’ match against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon after admitting he was distracted by the attention being shown in him.

In just over two years with the Yorkshire club Wood racked up eighty-eight appearances in all competitions, scoring forty-four goals – a tally which includes thirty Championship goals last season – the highest by any player in the division.

The twenty-five year old has briefly played in the English top flight before having turned out seven times for Leicester City four seasons ago while he also played once for West Bromwich Albion earlier in his career.
