(GSM) – Tottenham Hotspur defender Jonathan Woodgate could be set to miss the remainder of the season. The former Newcastle United and Real Madrid player has been sidelined with a groin injury.
“Woody’s out in America still. I don’t know if we’ll get him back before the end of the season,” manager Harry Redknapp said.
Woodgate has returned to the United States to spend a month with a specialist. He has only played two league games this season.
With Ledley King also suffering from injury, Redknapp is looking to bring in another central defender in the transfer window.
Redknapp wants to sign Younes Kaboul from his former club, Portsmouth. Tottenham are already in talks about signing Pompey’s goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
“There’s a deal there (for Kaboul),” said Redknapp. “I’ve been speaking to (Portsmouth manager) Avram (Grant). Avram said, ‘We need to sell them Harry because otherwise we’re in trouble’.
“We’re not trying to buy him on the cheap,” added the Spurs manager.
“We’re paying whatever the going rate is for him.”
