Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp revealed on Thursday that England defender Jonathan Woodgate will miss the start of the season after flying to America for treatment on a groin injury.
Woodgate’s latest injury is a major headache for Redknapp as centre-back Ledley King has not been able to take part in pre-season training due to his recurring knee injury, while fellow defender Michael Dawson has a damaged Achilles.
“All three central defenders are struggling for the start of the season in all honesty so it is not an ideal situation,” Redknapp told Tottenham’s website.
