Xavi Hernandez is seriously thinking about retiring from the national team as he battles to overcome a chronic hamstring injury.
The persistent injury problems threaten to end the player’s career sooner than expected and as a way of slowing down, he is likely to call it quits on his international career.
Before making his final decision, Xavi will consult Barcelona medical team, who have been following his condition since last September, when the problems started in the first place.
The fact that Xavi has yet to announce international retirement shows that he is hoping to play his 100th game for La Furia Roja before ending his international career.
The midfielder currently has 97 caps to his name and everything suggests his retirement will accompany that of his teammate Carles Puyol, who is also close to the centennial.
