The 2009 World Youth Championship is over for Egypt. In the round of sixteen, the hosts crashed to a 0-2 defeat by Costa Rica.
The thousands of fans at Cairo’s International Stadium couldn’t prevent that Costa Rica’s Jose Mena put the Central Americans in the lead after 21 minutes.
Although Egypt tried to fight their way back into the game, it was instead Marco Ureña to decide the clash, 0-2 with two minutes to go in regular time.
The Costa Ricans will have to wait and see which team they face in the quarter finals, but it will be either Venezuela or the United Arab Emirates. Those two face off in their round of sixteen game on Wednesday.
