Market: Wycombe Wanderers win

Odds: 5/4 @ Bet 365

Handed the chance to potentially climb to the top of the League One standings, a high-flying Wycombe will make the trip to Tranmere on Sunday lunchtime.

Starting with the hosts, watching League Two outfit Salford snatch a 2-0 win at Prenton Park in the EFL Trophy in midweek, Tranmere have continued on what has been an inconsistent spell. Still holding just a three-point buffer over falling into the drop zone after a string of off-field issues over the summer, Micky Mellon’s men have landed just a single League One victory over the past month. A huge part of their continued issues in November have come down to some continued struggles at the back. Along with shipping five against Sunderland last month, no team outside the bottom-three holds a worse defensive tally.

As for the visitors, securing their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s EFL Trophy thanks to a 2-1 win away at MK Dons last time out, it really has been a stellar campaign so far for Wycombe. With only their goal difference keeping them behind league leaders Ipswich and now seen to be a leading contender to land a debut Championship campaign next season, the mood around Adams Park remains at a continued high. Suffering just a single League One defeat this year, Gareth Ainsworth’s men have continued to shine on their travels. Winning each of their last three matchups on the road, we’re backing another away victory for a high-flying Wycombe on Sunday.
