Catalan daily newspaper El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Barcelona are weighing up a move for Real Sociedad captain Xabi Prieto.
The same source has suggested that Barcelona boss Tata Martino is a big fan of the player, which is enough to suggest he could try and lure him to Camp Nou. The Argentine coach even voted for the Real Sociedad star as the best Spanish player in La Liga.
Xabi Prieto has spent his entire career at Anoeta and currently has a deal until June 2017 with La Real.
The 30-year-old has amassed a total of 334 league appearances for the club, scoring 49 goals in the process.
Prieto has been in fine form this season, having managed 2 goals and 3 assists in 20 league outings. Oddly enough, he was never called into Spain squad, although he did make 5 appearances for the Under-21 side between 2004 and 2005.
