Xavi Simons left Paris Saint-Germain to join PSV Eindhoven last summer, and his rise through Dutch football has been extraordinary. With 16 goals and eight assists in 39 appearances in all competitions this term, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been an important part of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s squad.
Simons’s standout performances have, of course, sparked rumours about a possible return to PSG this summer – there is a clause in the agreement which saw him leave Paris giving the Ligue 1 giants the right to buy him back.
However, the player has the final say in this matter and Simons appears to feel that there’s a lot to accomplish still in his homeland.
“People ask me about PSG clause to bring me back,” the three-cap senior Netherlands international told Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad.
“But I also say: I signed with PSV Eindhoven for 5 years, no? PSV trust me and I want to do great things here.”
Simons was already asked this question back in February, in an interview with Marca, and his answer was pretty much the same.
