Granit Xhaka is set to leave Arsenal this summer, according to London World. The Swiss international has apparently told manager Mikel Arteta of his desire already, and Arteta won’t stand in his way if that’s what the player wants. The 30-year-old is believed to be keen to return to Germany, and Bayer Leverkusen have expressed an interest in signing him.
Xhaka has certainly played an important part in Arsenal’s efforts to win the Premier League title this year, which at the moment look set to fail nonetheless. Still, returning to the Champions League after six years will still be important, and with the challenge of playing in that competition in mind, the Gunners are already looking to replace Xhaka with a player that would improve their current midfield section.
Arsenal failed to prize Moises Caicedo away from Brighton and Hove Albion in January and their interest remains strong, and they’ve also been heavily linked with West Ham star Declan Rice.
