Borussia M’gladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka has revealed that he received proposals from Inter Milan and Napoli in the summer transfer window.
While arriving at the club in a high-profile move from Basel, the Switzerland international largely struggled to prove his worth in the Bundesliga.
As a result, he was constantly linked with a move away from the club, and it has now been revealed that he could have left die Fohlen in the summer transfer window.
However, Xhaka has suggested that he did not want to leave his current employers despite offers from Inter Milan and Napoli.
“There were offers from Inter Milan and Napoli,” the 21-year-old confessed to Swiss newspaper Blick.
“But, it was never my goal to leave Gladbach. I have a two-year contract and have so far played all the games this season.”
After starting 15 and 23 league matches in his first two seasons at the club, Xhaka seems to have finally established himself as an undisputed starter at Borussia Park.
The talented midfielder should be in the starting line-up when Switzerland host England in a Euro 2016 qualifier, with the home side priced at 13/8 to claim maximum points.
