Yaya Sanogo nears Bordeaux switch

Ligue 1 giants Bordeaux hope to complete a deal to sign French striker Yaya Sanogo on loan from Arsenal, L’Equipe has learned.

Les Girondins need cover for starting striker Cheick Diabate, who will be leaving for Africa Cup of Nations duty, and they believe the Gunners forward would be a very good replacement.

And while Lorient and few English sides are also keen, the 21-year-old seems to be tempted by the prospect of playing for les Girondins.

It remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger would be ready to sanction the deal, although a six-month loan could be a good solution for all the parties concerned.

Yaya Sanogo has shown a great deal of promise this season, but he has struggled for playing time since Danny Welbeck joined and Olivier Giroud recovered from injury.

The talented forward has yet to open his Premier League account, although he has only featured in 11 league games since arriving from Auxerre.
