French media outlet L’Equipe understands that former France international Yoann Gourcuff is set to ink a deal with Rennes.
The 29-year-old has been searching for a new club since leaving Lyon earlier this summer and he has been the subject of interest from several Ligue 1 sides.
However, a return to native Brittany always appealed to the attacking midfielder, who has reportedly told Rennes that he was ready to move to Stade de la Route de Lorient.
The player’s agent have been in talks with les Bretons for several weeks now and they have reached an agreement on a one-year contract worth between €1.2m and €1.8m gross.
Gourcuff hopes to kick-start his career following a disappointing spell with Lyon and he should have no problems nailing down a regular starting berth in Philippe Montanier’s squad.
The agreement will not be made official before the international break, meaning the experienced midfielder could be handed his debut against Nantes on 12 September.
