Southampton defender Maya Yoshida has penned a new three year contract with the club, according to Sky Sports.
The Japan international moved to St Mary’s from Dutch club VVV-Venlo in the summer of 2012 and has gone on to make fifty-seven appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring three goals.
This season, he has turned out eleven times under Ronald Koeman and netted in the recent victory over Everton though he will be heading off to the Asian Cup later this month.
The new deal is set to the 26 year old, who began his career with Japanese outfit Nagoya Grampus, remain with the South Coast club until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
Southampton extended their unbeaten run to four league games yesterday by beating fellow top-four hopefuls Arsenal by two goals to nil, and the Saints can now be backed at 3/1 to finish the season in the Champions League qualification places.
