Young Barcelona starlet Thiago signs new contract

Young Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Nou Camp till 2011. The contract also has a clause for an additional two years, in which case Alcantara will be part of the Blaugrana setup till 2013.

The newly penned deal sees Alcantara’s release clause valued at 10 million euros. In the event that the two year extension is activated, Alcantara’s minimum fee release clause will rise to 30 million euros.

Bari born Alcantara, who holds a Brazilian passport, joined Barcelona from Ureca in 2004. He has played for Spain at every level from U-16 to U-19. The young midfielder made his league debut for the Catalans in May 2009 against Mallorca.
