Young set for new deal with Manchester United

Manchester United are set to offer Ashley Young a new three year deal, according to the Express.

The winger turned in a man of the match performance in the Manchester derby yesterday, as United beat City 4-2 – their first win over their fierce rivals in five meetings between the sides.

Young has struggled to show his best form on a consistent basis since moving to Old Trafford from Aston Villa in the summer of 2011, but has racked up over one hundred appearances for the club in total, scoring thirteen goals.

He has been capped thirty times for England, but hasn’t represented his country since playing in a 0-0 World Cup qualifying draw with Ukraine over eighteen months ago.

Yesterday’s victory saw Louis van Gaal’s side tighten their grip on a Champions League qualification place as they moved nine points clear of fifth place Southampton with just six games left to play.
