(GSM) – Aston Villa winger Ashley Young has revealed that he would be happy to extend his stay at the club.

The 25-year-old was the subject of rumours during the summer transfer window, especially after Tottenham Hotspur declared its interest.

But Young remained and is reportedly close to signing a new contact with the Birmingham outfit.

“I’ve always said that I’m willing to sign a new deal,” Young said. “If it comes along then I’ll be delighted to sign.”

The player also said that he is happy to work with Villa’s new manager Gerard Houllier: “When things chance at a club, you are looking forward to a new regime with the new manager coming in who has his own way of thinking.”
