Zabaleta reveals Guardiola stopped Roma move

When speaking to Sky Italia, Pablo Zabaleta revealed that Pep Guardiola prevented him from leaving Manchester City in favour of joining Roma. The defender was offered a three year deal, and has always been excited by a potential move to Italy, but Guardiola wanted him to remain at the Etihad. Zabaleta is considered to be a legend at City courtesy of his many great years at the club, but now, he’s down south with West Ham United where he’s enjoying what will likely be the final few years of his career.

It’s interesting to note how eager Guardiola was to keep him at City, given that Zabaleta has always been fairly underrated amongst many members of the media. It seems as if both parties are still doing fairly well, and it’ll be interesting to see whether or not Zabaleta will return to City one day in some kind of capacity.
