According to Sport, Pablo Zabaleta is set to retire at the end of the season due to family reasons. The 33 year old joined West Ham United last year and has done well for himself at London Stadium, but his main body of work came with Manchester City. The Argentine will forever be viewed as a legend at the Etihad and rightly so, making over 200 appearances for the club during his nine years there.
Zabaleta seems to have been slowly preparing himself for life after professional football for quite some time now, transitioning into punditry work over the summer for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. West Ham are currently lingering down in 13th in the Premier League with many believing that they’re still one of the contenders for the drop, especially given how unpredictable the division has been this year.
West Ham’s next game after the international break will come against Zabaleta’s former club Manchester City.
