Veteran defender Gianluca Zambrotta is hoping to join his former teammate Clarence Seedorf at Botafogo, according to O Globo.
The 35-year-old has been a free agent since he was released from his contract at San Siro earlier this summer, but has been unable to find a new club.
The former Italy international recently revealed he would love to test his skills in Brazil, and O Globo claims Zambrotta has called Clarence Seedorf to see whether Botafogo would be prepared to sign him.
The same source reports that the Brazilian club have rejected the approach, worried by the fact that the full-back only made 16 appearances for the Rossoneri last season.
Zambrotta spent four seasons at San Siro before leaving the club, scoring 2 goals in 85 Serie A appearances in the process.
The 2006 World Cup winner only played for Juventus, Barcelona and Milan after leaving Bari in 1999.
