Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini insists Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino should be banned for five games following his controversial goal last night.

Gilardino scored the first goal with his hand in Fiorentina’s 3-1 win over Palermo on Sunday.

“It’s disgraceful,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I’m asking for video evidence to be used.

“Gilardino deserves to be banned for five games. He even celebrated – it was incredible.

“Palermo were robbed and it was down to the referee and linesmen. Two years ago, Adrian Mutu scored while one of our players was down injured and now this has happened.

“And to think Fiorentina present themselves as champions of fair play and the terzo tempo.”
