Palermo president Maurzio Zamparini revealed that Javier Pastore would remain at Palermo for at least another season.
Juventus have reportedly joined the race to sign the Argentine playmaker, but Zamparini doesn’t think the Old Lady can compete with big European teams.
“Pastore will definitely stay for another year at Palermo. Perhaps he’ll stay forever seeing that he just signed a new five-year contract,” Zamparini told Tuttosport.
“These aren’t the basis of possible co-ownership deals to take Pastore to Turin. What’s more I don’t think that Juventus’ actual recruitment policy is compatible with signing a player of this kind.
“I don’t want to say that they can’t sign him, but it’s a fact that in recent years they have broken up their budget to sign more players [rather than just one].
“In Italy we think about part-ownership, but when teams from abroad want a player of this kind they only put money on the table.”
When asked who he would accept in exchange for Pastore, the Palermo president replied:
“Marchisio, my old favourite. Alessandro Matri would also do just fine. Or Gigi Buffon… No, he earns too much.”
