Javier Zanetti insists Inter Milan will not give up on third spot in Serie A in order to qualify for next season’s Champions League playoff.
Inter beat Siena 2-1 on Wednesday evening, and are now trailing third-placed Lazio by only six points with six games to go.
“Third position will be tough because there are other teams ahead of us; it’s going to be difficult right to the end,” Zanetti said.
“But that’s why we must keep giving everything we have until the last game. This season, apart from Juventus and Milan, all the other teams are capable of winning games or dropping points.”
Zanetti praised his team’s fighting spirit after rallying back to win against Giuseppe Sannino’s side.
“Coming from behind to beat Siena was a great sign because it means the team haven’t lost the character we’ve showed over the years. Not that long ago, we were losing games like this,” he said.
Inter’s next match is the Serie A game away against Udinese on Saturday.
