Zanetti mulls over retirement

Italian TV station Mediaset claims that Inter captain Javier Zanetti is thinking about retiring from the game at the end of the season.

The 39-year-old has entered the final year of his deal at Giuseppe Meazza, but the club chiefs are prepared to offer him a contract extension.

Zanetti is still considered an important player at Inter and he is showing no signs of slowing down.

However, Mediaset claims that the player is considering hanging up his boots at the end of the current campaign.

He has already agreed to remain at Giuseppe Meazza as a club official once he decides to end his playing career, and it appears that the Argentine footballer could decide to call it quits in the summer.

Javier Zanetti joined Inter in 1995 from Banfield and has since made almost 600 Serie A appearances for the Neroazzurri, winning five league titles in the process.
