Duvan Zapata of Atalanta has denied the reports which recently claimed he had been contacted by Real Madrid, according to Marca.
The Serie A team have achieved huge success in the season that just ended, and they can now begin preparations for 2019/20, which will see them appear in the Champions League for the first time in their history. They have already confirmed that head coach Gian Piero Gasperini will continue at the helm, and Zapata’s words can also be taken as an encouraging sign.
Even though the 28-year-old striker did not hide that he would have liked to have been contacted by the Spanish giants, he also expressed gratitude to Atalanta for doing as much as they did to bring him to Bergamo.
Real are certainly looking for reinforcements in all areas of the pitch, but Zapata, who scored 23 goals in 37 league appearances for his club in 2018/19, says he is being randomly linked with a different club every time he reads the papers.
