The agent of Argentine striker Mauro Zarate has explained that his client is open to return to Lazio at the end of the season.
The controversial forward was loaned to Inter on transfer deadline deal last summer after clashing with Lazio boss Edy Reja.
The 25-year-old has failed to make an impact at Giuseppe Meazza, having scored just one goal in 24 games for the Neroazzurri.
With Inter unlikely to exercise the option to make the transfer permanent, Zarate is expected to return to Lazio at the end of the season.
The player’s representative and brother Sergio Zarate claims that his client would be happy to return to Olimpico.
“Maurito still loves Lazio, he would be happy to remain in Rome,” Sergio Zarate told Radio Mana Mana Sport.
“In this moment it is difficult to say what will be his future. Everything is now in Inter’s hands.
”The prospect of returning to Rome would be welcomed, but then again, our intention is to respect the time and decision of Inter.”
Zarate has largely struggled to prove his worth at Giuseppe Meazza and failed to find the net in 15 Serie A appearances.
With club owner Massimo Moratti hinting at major squad rebuilding in the summer, the Argentine looks set to be shown the door come end of the season.
