A late goal from Ze Luis earned Sao Paulo an important win over local rivals Portuguesa Sao Paulo on Saturday.
The Serie A leaders scored early through Borges, but Jonas equalised for Portuguesa in the 42nd minute.
Borges then restored the lead right before the break, but Jonas once again put the two sides on level terms on 72 minutes.
The away side would get the win though, as Ze Luis beat the opposing keeper with just two minutes left in regular time.
Sao Paulo now have a five points lead over Palmeiras who could bring the gap back to two but face a tough challenge against third-placed Gremio on Sunday.
