(GSM) – Walter Zenga has backed Internazionale boss Rafael Benítez to get the side out of the current rut.

The Inter legend Zenga is one of numerous candidates tipped to succeed Benítez, if the Spaniard is shown the door.

But the current Al Nassr boss has refused to entertain speculation suggesting that he may be asked by club president Massimo Moratti to save the Nerazzurri’s season.

“Nobody has called me,” the former Azzurri keeper told Sky Sport 24. “Benítez is a good Coach and he’ll get the team out of trouble.

“Inter have a game on Wednesday against Twente in the Champions League and I’m certain they’ll win that.”

Inter are going through tough times after a 2-1 defeat at Chievo which has left them nine points behind current leaders Milan.

“I’m of the opinion that an important squad, which has won everything, will know how to get out of this together with a Coach who has experience,” the former Catania and Palermo tactician added.

“It’s not just about pre-season training or the fact that the players have ‘full stomachs’, you have to be at training everyday to understand the situation.

“Benítez is there everyday and knows what occurs.

“Sometimes you just need to win one game and everything changes.”

Inter have gone winless in their previous five outings in all competitions and will be looking to turn their season around when they host Twente.on Wednesday.
