Serbian daily newspaper Sportski Zurnal has learned that Zenit have reached an agreement to sign Red Star defender Vukasin Jovanovic.
The Serbian giants had previously accepted a €2.5 million offer for their star player, but the centre-back was unhappy with the personal terms offered and the deal fell through.
However, it has now been revealed that Jovanovic has received a much better proposal as Zenit offered him a four-and-a-half-year contract worth €2.8 million, prior to bonuses.
Meanwhile, Red Star will earn €2 million, with another €500,000 depending on performance related bonuses.
Jovanovic is expected to fly to St Petersburg later today with his representatives and everything suggests the transfer will be wrapped up in the coming days.
The centre-back, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, has featured in 32 league matches for Red Star Belgrade, scoring 2 goals, while he made five appearances to help Serbia lift the Under-20 World Cup title in New Zealand in June 2015.
