(GSM) – Zenit St. Petersburg’s lead in the Russian Premier League may be reduced by two points following a 1-1 draw with Dinamo Moskva.
After several games were suspended due to severe forest fires last week, none of this week’s Russian fixtures were affected as no games were played in the capital city, Moscow.
Former German international striker Kevin Kuranyi celebrated his debut for the visiting side by scoring his very first goal for the Muscovites in the 26th minute at Zenit.
But the hosts found the equaliser eight minutes later, with Serbian Danko Lazovic following Kuranyi’s example by scoring his first goal in his debut after joining from PSV during the summer.
Rubin Kazan are currently eight points behind Zenit but an away win at Terek Grozny on Sunday would reduce this gap to five points.
In another match played on Saturday, Spartak Nalchik beat Sibir Novosibirsk 4-2 to move into third place.
