(GSM) – There were no surprises in Saturday’s two Russian Premier League games as both Zenit St. Petersburg and Rubin Kazan secured home wins.
Leaders Zenit delivered the most convincing performance, beating mid-table Saturn 6-1.
Alexander Kerzhakov was the big motivator for the home team with goals in the 24th, 46th and 54th minutes. The remaining goals were scored by Danny (penalty, 31st), Danko Lazovic (34th) and Alessandro Rosina (83rd).
Saturn’s only goal came from Dmitri Kirichenko shortly before the break.
Defending champions Rubin Kazan hosted Alaniya Vladikavkaz and needed only a 37th-minute goal from Salvatore Bocchetti to grab the three points.
