Russian Premier League champions Zenit have confirmed they have made a loan offer for Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin.
The Russian playmaker has lost his starting place at the Emirates and he could decide to leave the club in search of first team football.
His former club Zenit St Petersburg are interested in signing the 30-year-old and they want to take him on loan until the end of the season.
The Russian giants want Arshavin as a replacement for playmaker Danny, who has been ruled out for the season through injury.
Russian Premier League clubs are allowed to sign new players until 24th February, meaning they need to wrap up the deal before the transfer window closes tomorrow.
Zenit general director Maxim Mitrofanov has now revealed that the club have already made an offer for the Russian international.
“The offer has been made to Arsenal. If they give us the OK we will enter negotiations with Andrey,” Mitrofanov was quoted as saying in Russian newspaper Sovetsky Sport.
Arshavin featured in 19 Premier League games this term, but started just 8 of them, and managed to score one goal in the process.
