Russian Premier League outfit Zenit are on the verge of completing a deal for Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris, according to A Bola.

The club from St Petersburg have just cashed in on Axel Witsel, who surprisingly decided to move to China, and they see the Eagles star as a perfect long-term replacement.

A Bola have learned that Zenit are ready to offer Benfica €20 million for the Greece international, which is a great proposal considering that Samaris has only started one league fixture this season.

But, having impressed in the first two years after arriving from Olympiakos, the Greek midfielder appears to have done enough to earn a lucrative move to Russia.

Samaris has so far made 61 Primeira Liga appearances for the Eagles, scoring 2 goals, while featuring in another 21 Champions League fixtures.

Meanwhile, he remains an important member of the Greece national team, with 27 caps to his name.
