Brazilian newspaper Lance! has revealed that Zenit have moved to pole position to sign Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.

According to the same source, an official from the Russian club has flown to Brazil where he will meet president Giovanni Luigi.

Zenit will present a €25 million proposal to the Brazilian club and offer the player a long-term deal worth €4.5 million per campaign.

The fact Internacional have already signed a replacement for Damiao, having lured Ignacio Scocco from Newell’s Old Boys, is enough to suggest they are ready to part ways with their star player.

Tottenham and Napoli are also believed to be keen on the 24-year-old, but their offers are way below what Zenit have proposed.

Internacional chiefs have so far resisted temptation to cash in on the Brazil international, but having received the most lucrative offer yet, we are likely to see some new developments in the coming days.
