According to the Daily Mail, Zenit St Petersburg have joined the race to sign Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel.
The Russian side sold Skrtel to Liverpool in 2008 but it is being suggested they could offer £14 million to bring him back to the club.
Zenit will be playing in the Champions League next season, which may make them an extremely tempting offer for the defender.
Serie A club Napoli have also been linked with the 27-year-old, along with English Premier League big spenders Manchester City so he certainly has a big decision to make.
New manager at Anfield Brendan Rodgers has also stated that he wants his centre back to stay on Merseyside.
A new deal has with Liverpool has yet to be agreed, which has put these other three giants of European football on alert.
Skrtel may like to join up with former teammates in Russia and be part of a side that can challenge at the highest level.
Liverpool have another season where they are not competing in Europe’s elite club competition, which could lead Skrtel to consider his options.
With plenty of clubs keeping an eye on this story, it could have a few twists and turns before the end of the summer transfer window.
