Zenit sporting director Igor Korneev admitted the club are interested in signing Koln star Lukas Podolski.
Speaking at a press conference during a training camp in Dubai, Korneev hinted Zenit could move for the Germany international.
“Lukas Podolski is a big name. Having said that, I can say that we are interested. But, there are no concrete talks.”
The Russian champions are reportedly preparing a €15 million bid for the Koln star, who says he is aware of Zenit interest.
“Yes, I am aware of Zenit’s interest. There is nothing more I can say about this issue.”
Podolski has a clause in his contract saying that he will be available for €5 million if Koln get relegated, meaning that Zenit could wait until the summer before launching an assault on the Germany international.
