Zenit are weighing up a summer bid for Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

The Russian giants have already secured the league title and coach Luciano Spalletti is determined to reinforce the squad for the next season.

According to A Bola, the Italian tactician has been showing interest in Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo.

The Portuguese newspaper claims that Zenit had the player watched in last weekend’s win over Maritimo.

Benfica are reportedly willing to do business and they value their star player at €20 million, which is well within Zenit’s price range.

The Russian champions already have two players who made the name for themselves in the Portuguese championship in their ranks, Bruno Alves and Danny, who would make life easier for the Paraguayan should he decide to accept the proposal from Zenit.

Cardozo has been in fine form this season, scoring 18 goals in 26 league games, while bagging 5 more in 12 Europa League fixtures.
