Zenit St Petersburg got off to a good start in this year’s Russian Premier League, and moved into first place thanks to a 0-3 win at Tom Tomsk this Sunday.

Last year’s UEFA Cup winners had to wait until the second half to break the deadlock at Tom Tomsk, with Fernando Meira scoring the opener on 53 minutes.

Igor Denisov made it 0-2 on the hour and Fatih Tekke added a third and final goal with eight minutes left to play.

Zenit share the lead with revelations Terek Groznyi. Both sides have seven points from their first three games, although the St Petersburg outfit have a better goal record.
