Zenit St Petersburg are stepping up interest in Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin, Tuttosport has revealed.
The Nerazzurri would jump at the opportunity to offload the Colombian footballer, but the interested sides have yet to make concrete moves.
However, it appears that Zenit have moved to the front of the queue for the 28-year-old player and they have already established the initial contact with Inter Milan.
Namely, the Russian club representative met with the Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio and Guarin’s agent Marcelo Fereyra yesterday and informed the two men of club’s plans to recruit the Colombia international.
While the midfielder appears tempted by the offer from Russia, he is still hoping long-term admirers Manchester United will step up their interest, which is why he aims to wait for few more days before agreeing a switch to Zenit.
With Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini suffering injuries, the Red Devils could try and lure Guarin to Old Trafford.
