Russian daily newspaper Izvestia is reporting that Zenit are in talks to sign Serbian defender Aleksandar Kolarov from Manchester City.
The Russian giants are prepared to offer the full-back a contract worth around €5 million per campaign, which is almost the same to what he is currently earning at Etihad.
Boss Luciano Spalletti believes Kolarov would be a perfect replacement for Domenico Criscito, who is hoping to return to Italian Serie A.
Zenit would obviously also have to reach an agreement with the player’s employers, seeing as how his current deal is valid until June 2015.
Nevertheless, it is highly unlikely Kolarov will be interested in leaving the Citizens now that he has finally nailed down a regular starting berth.
The 28-year-old has made a total of 16 Premier League appearances this season, starting 12 games, and in turn managed 1 goal and 4 assists, helping the team climb to the second position in the overall standings.
