(GSM) – Zenit St. Petersburg continue to dominate in the Russian Premier League, beating Amkar Perm 2-0 on Saturday to maintain their comfortable lead.
After a goalless first half in St. Petersburg, Zenit needed only four minutes in the second for in-form Alexander Kerzhakov to score the opener.
The home side were handed a penalty shortly after the break, with Alexander Anyukov converting from the spot for 2-0.
Zenit remain six points ahead of Rubin Kazan and have two games in hand as well.
Rubin did what they needed to do to beat Rostov 2-1, despite conceding an early goal as Alexander Pavlenko scored from the spot in the third minute.
But Bibras Natkho leveled six minutes later and just another two minutes had passed when former Internazionale striker Obafemi Martins scored what turned out to be the winning goal.
