Zico will not stop Zhirkov from joining Chelsea

CSKA Moscow coach Zico insists he will not stop Yuri Zhirkov from joining Premier League side Chelsea.

The Russia international has been linked with a £15million summer move to the Blues.

“Zhirkov is a player of such high level, he would only show all his potential playing in such a strong competition as the English Premier League,” said Zico in The Sun.

“He’d easily fit into Chelsea’s first-choce team. I don’t like to lose him, but I won’t stop his move to London.”

Reports claims Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has advised Roman Abramovich to sign Zhirkov this summer.

Hiddink, who also is Russia national team coach, believes Zhirkov could be a hit in the Premier League.
