(GSM) – Borussia Dortmund striker Mohamed Zidan feels that the Bundesliga leaders could bag the title as early as February next year.
The Westphalians currently lead second-placed Mainz 05 by 10 points after completion of half of the season with defending champions Bayern München further four points adrift.
And Zidan, who missed much of the first half of the season due to injury, believes the first Bundesliga title since 2002 is within touching distance for Dortmund.
“I think that the title will be decided in February already,” he told the Bild newspaper. “If we get at least 10 points from our first five matches then there will be no more taking it away from us.
“This chance comes around for us once a decade, not like Bayern who challenge for the title every year.”
The 29-year-old has become the first Dortmund player to have openly talked about Die Schwarzgelben’s title chances this season with the rest of his team-mates and coach Jürgen Klopp adopting a game-by-game approach.
Dortmund resume their league campaign in 2011 with a trip to third-placed Bayer Leverkusen on January 14.
