Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has decided to end speculation regarding the future of star player James Rodriguez.
The Colombian footballer didn’t exactly manage to justify the hefty price tag and he struggled for both form and playing time last season.
And with quite a few Premier League sides keen on his services, a summer move away from Santiago Bernabeu was a realistic possibility, with coach Zidane admitting that the situation regarding the Colomba hotshot was complicated.
However, it would appear as though the Frenchman has decided to keep James Rodriguez in Madrid, at least for the time being.
“James is a Real Madrid footballer,” Zidane told reporters at a press conference ahead of the International Champions Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
“At the moment we have this squad and we won with this squad. James is staying at Real Madrid.”
After impressing to score 13 goals in 29 league games in his debut season, James Rodriguez could only register 7 league goals last term, making mere 17 starts in la Liga, while starting just three Champions League fixtures as Real went on to claim the coveted title.
