Zidane hints at becoming a coach
France legend Zinedine Zidane has revealed that he may take up coaching in the future.
The 39-year-old is currently employed as Real Madrid director of football, but he doesn’t rule out the possibility of becoming a coach in the future.
Asked whether he would be interested in coaching France one day in the future, Zidane replied:
“Coach, why not? It would not hurt…Everything is possible in life,” Zidane told Le Parisien.
However, he doesn’t think Laurent Blanc should step down from the post.
“The question is whether he is the right person to lead the team and answer is yes.
”He did a good job. He started from far, far away after what happened at the 2010 World Cup.”
Marcello Lippi coy on Anzhi link
Italian coach Marcello Lippi admits he could be interested in taking over the reigns at Anzhi.
The World Cup-winning coach has been a free agent since he stepped down from Italy post after the 2010 World Cup.
Lippi has already expressed his desire to return to the game, and he has recently been linked with a vacant post at Anzhi.
“I follow the situation of Anzhi closely, the team of Roberto Carlos and Eto’o,” Lippi told Rai Sport.
“But, I haven’t had any contact with their directors. I just read the papers.”
The Italian then confirmed that he is looking to return to coaching.
“I have already stated that I want to come back as coach.
”And I do not exclude any possibility, I don’t only consider international job proposals.”
Roberto Carlos has been appointed player-coach of Anzhi after Gadzhi Gadzhiev was sacked, but the Russian club chiefs are looking to bring a high-profile coach at the helm.
Fiorentina confident of keeping Jovetic
Fiorentina owner Andrea Della Valle believes that star forward Stevan Jovetic will remain at Artemio Franchi despite interest from abroad.
The Montenegrin has only recently returned from a serious injury, but impressive performances at the start of the season saw him linked with several big European clubs.
The player has expressed his desire to continue at Artemio Franchi, and the club are doing everything they can to persuade Jovetic into signing a new contract.
“He’s an extraordinary player,” Viola owner Andrea Della Valle told Il Corriere dello Sport.
“We certainly don’t want to deprive ourselves of his ability, but there is no need to put pressure on him regarding his contract.
“There is plenty of time to discuss this matter and we’ll soon be able to give you some good news about the situation.”
Jovetic has two more years on his current deal with Viola, and Fiorentina are ready to offer him an improved deal until June 2016.
