Real Madrid sporting director Zinedine Zidane has revealed his plans to take up coaching one day in the future.
The former Juventus and Real Madrid midfielder was appointed director of football at Santiago Bernabeu in July 2011 and has since received wide acclaim for his work.
However, while admitting he is happy with his current position, Zidane admits that he would like to be a head coach in the near future.
“I want to be a coach sooner or later. I want to pass something on, my experience for example. This is what I do best and I know best,” Zidane told Radio France Info.
“But I have time. I’ve never been in a hurry, I have no personal ambitions, I just want to learn things. This is what I need to do to evolve; it is a natural evolution.”
The 39-year-old then turned his attention to France’s chances at the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.
Zidane believes that les Bleus are showing a lot of potential under new boss Laurent Blanc.
“There is everything that is needed, especially a good coach, which is important. There are quality players like Ribery and Benzema.
“It’s a team that has not yet reached its highest level. I hope it can do so at the Euros.”
Zinedine Zidane featured in 108 games for France national team between 1992 and 2008, scoring 31 goals in the process.
The classy playmaker led les Bleus to 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship titles.
