According to a recent report from AS, Zinedine Zidane’s son Luca Zidane will be leaving the Spanish champions when his current contract expires at the end of the month.
The 22-year-old is currently out on loan with fellow Spanish club Racing Santander, but if he does wind up leaving on a permanent deal, it will bring an end to his 16-year stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Zinedine has always come across as the kind of manager that will do what’s best for the club, but when you consider the trajectory of Luca during his time in Madrid, it also feels like this is what would be best for him, too.
Now that Real are back on top of La Liga they need to start thinking about how they’re building their squad, and that means contemplating the outgoings as well as the potential incomings.
It’s bound to be a tough process, but it’s one that has to happen.
