The chief executive of the Zimbabwe Football Association, Henrietta Rushwaya, has been fired for sending the national team to Asia to play unsanctioned matches, an official said on Wednesday.
A disciplinary tribunal found Rushwaya guilty on charges of mismanagement and insubordination among others.
“The disciplinary panel found her guilty of the charges levelled against her and as a result, the penalty for that is dismissal,” labour judge Custom Kachambwa told AFP.
Rushwaya was suspended by the organisation in July, after she facilitated the national team’s trip to Thailand, Syria and Malaysia in December last year.
She was also found guilty of securing a loan from the Sports and Recreation Commission that could not be accounted for.
Rushwaya is also said to have allowed former top league champions, Monomotapa to travel to Malaysia, where they masqueraded as the national team.
