Chelsea have confirmed on Sunday that Hakim Ziyech has signed a contract which will make him their player for five years, starting this summer.
Chelsea were forcibly inactive last summer, having been imposed with an initial two-window transfer ban which was later cut in half, on top of losing the services of Eden Hazard. They took some consolation in the fact that they had already secured the services of Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund, but there can be no doubt that the acquisition of Ziyech will be an important boost as they navigate through a period of transition overseen by club legend Frank Lampard. The deal will reportedly cost Chelsea £38 million.
The Morocco international said he was delighted to sign for the Blues, and expressed his hope to achieve great things at Stamford Bridge. Many believe that his arrival will signal the end of Pedro Rodriguez and Willian at Chelsea, with the likes of Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi also set for more important roles in the future, along with Mason Mount.
