West Ham are set to confirm Gianfranco Zola as their new manager after calling a news conference for later Thursday.

The Italian, who made his name in English football as a striker with the Hammers' London rivals Chelsea, has been reported to have agreed a three-year deal at Upton Park.

Zola is set to succeed Alan Curbishley, who resigned in protest at the Premier League side's transfer policy, and so become West Ham's 12th manager.

Caretaker boss Kevin Keen is set to be in charge for Saturday's match away to West Brom with Zola starting work on Monday.
