Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has moved to deny reports that he traveled to London in order to discuss the transfer of Gareth Bale to Camp Nou.
Catalan daily Sport claimed that the former Spain keeper had traveled to England to discuss the possibility of signing the Welshman with Spurs chiefs, but Zubizarreta has rejected such speculations.
“It’s not true that I have been in London negotiating with anyone and I have already said a thousand times that 90 per cent of ‘signable’ players are at Barca or in the youth team,” Zubizarreta told reporters at half-time of Barcelona’s clash with Real Sociedad.
The Catalans are still searching for a new left-back and they are heavily linked with Tottenham star Gareth Bale.
Spurs are not interested in selling their most prized asset, but it is believed they would not be able to resist a big money offer.
El Mundo Deportivo believes that Barcelona are preparing a €40 million bid for the Welshman, but that might not be enough to get their man.
The 22-year-old has been in brilliant form this season, scoring 10 goals and setting up 8 more in 22 Premier League games.
